Her story (as shared by her nominator)

She started a business (Kew Organics Facial Bar) from scratch at 43, launched its organic skincare line and gave birth to her first child at 45, set up Sugar K Organic Peel Bar at 47, gave birth to her 2nd child at 48 years old and decided to continue pushing boundaries (quite literally) by stepping into the Vietnam market with her business venture at 49 years old.

 

Lily is an amazing example of someone who doesn't seem to slow down with age but is continuing to challenge herself to grow and do more. And the most beautiful part is that I think she sets such a great example to her 2 young daughters of what a woman can be/ do in life.

Greatest achievement

I think it is being able to start a business at 43, gave birth at 45 & 48, and am still breastfeeding now.  I thought, due to my age, I’d not be able to breastfeed, so am very thankful for the abundance. 

 

Biggest challenge thus far

I was 41 when things turned soured between my business partner and I.  As she was my family member, and I was planning for children, hence the blow was very hard.  I read about family feuds on the newspaper but never imagined it’d happened to me.  I lost everything as the business was my only livelihood.  I fell into mild bouts of depression but am thankful I got out of it through my faith and sheer determination.  When I could stand on my feet again, I started another business from scratch and build nothing to something.  I’m glad I overcame the odds and walked out of the darkest moments of my life.
